WXYC 89.3fm

2022-2023

WXYC 89.3 FM is the non-commercial student-run radio station of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, broadcasting 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to the Triangle Area. I acted as a student DJ, working as both a full time and shift cover DJ in the on-campus studio. I got the opportunity to lead three specialty shows for our Sunday Punk Radio Show (2 hour special, alternating Sundays 7-9pm) and Thursday Night Feature (3 hour special, every Thursday 9pm-midnight).

In my time at WXYC I gained a familiarity with our music programming, crafting weekly 2/3 hour sets interwoven with talk-sets that inform and elevate the radio listening experience. I constantly engaged with new artists on the music rotation, gaining insight into label release practices, and music happenings in the local community.

Pitchfork Music Fest 2023

Excited to share my latest contribution to WXYC’s preview of the upcoming Pitchfork Music Festival. Tomorrow, in Union Park, a variety of great artists will showcase their talents, ranging from the captivating indie-folk powerhouse Big Thief to Radiohead side project The Smile to 18-year old rising reggae star Koffee.

Read about my most highly anticipated artist of the festival, Soul Glo, a punk rock trio from Philadelphia, who are bringing Black punk visibility to the main stage.
